Cape Fear Drilling - A Family Business

Cape Fear Drilling - A Family Business

Cape Fear Drilling Services has an interesting beginning. Chris Deal, the founder, began the business after many years of drilling as a partner in another business that operated in the south eastern NC area. Chris often found himself wishing things could be done differently-more effectively and efficiently, neater, cleaner, etc. He wanted to use state of the art equipment. Chris also wanted to expand into areas in which he felt could serve the customer more fully from start to finish. Chris dreamed of providing superb products packaged with integrity and service that every customer deserves and he also hoped to improve the driller's employee experience.

In 2006, Chris ordered a cab and chassis and began building drilling equipment specially constructed for the underground geographic formations in our area. He enlisted the help of local experts to build his equipment. They spent many hours over a period of a several months, designing and building the equipment that he felt would safely provide a highly consistent quality product for well and pump customers. This act of starting a new company took a tremendous amount of faith, skill and persistence. Upon equipment completion, Chris and another gentleman with many years of drilling experience, began installing wells for Cape Fear Drilling Services.

As the business grew, Melissa Deal, Chris's wife became more involved in the administrative portion of the business. Melissa began helping Chris with paper work, which was followed by increasing customer interaction. This led to a complementary perspective because Melissa realized how many customers may feel. This was especially true for those customers who often have little knowledge of water, pump and well operations. Or, those who work very tight schedules and have difficulty scheduling home services. She began exploring their needs and concerns and developing creative ways of gathering their feedback and meeting customer needs. Through this, Melissa developed not only a heart for helping customers but also a in depth knowledge of the water well and pump business.

Within a couple of years Melissa felt compelled to hire experts, beginning with a local company, Warren Advisors. Most recently a Tony Robbins business coach was enlisted. This coach advises the company on how to better structure the business in order to serve customers in the best possible way. Meanwhile, the field operations team grew to serve increasing customer demand. Chris and his crew continue to improve processes, redesign equipment, and add new technology on a regular basis.

Today, Melissa is now a partner in the business and is involved in many aspects of field, admin and executive operations, while Chris continues to oversee Field Operations and consult with customers and other businesses that seek his expertise. Chris is well known for his ability to trouble shoot and problem solve in a wide variety of well drilling, pump, geothermal and water quality areas.

Like all businesses, Cape Fear Drilling Services certainly experiences growing challenges and we strive to improve as we encounter every challenge. We very much enjoy meeting customers, solving their problems and trying to improve not only their quality of life, but also the ease of their water well, pump, geothermal, and water quality issue resolution. It is our goal to serve each customer and team member as if they are our only customer or team member - to take care of them as we would a member of our family. Although this takes tremendous effort from everyone involved in Cape Fear Drilling Services, it produces bounteous rewards as grateful folks become our friends and long time customers. We consider ourselves blessed by each relationship and every opportunity to be of assistance to those who make our business possible.
